Real Talk: Axle What?!
So who know that RV parts were so hard to come by!?!? I sure didn't. Turns out that on Memorial Day Weekend, NO ONE IS OPEN. Ok, fine. We played, hung out with friends and family, swam, whatnot. But our poor broken wheel was just begging to be fixed.
Come Tuesday morning, when the SWARMS of people had left the campground, Tom set out on a mission to find our axle and see what we could do to get it replaced. He ended up a million different places before finding one who explained that the part came from Lippart. They apparently custom make each axle for each RV (ineffecient much) and so they would custom make our axle (5 days production) and then ship it to us (10 days shipping) for the grand total of $800. While that wasn't as much as I expected, it was still too much. Plus, we did not have 15 days to sit around.
Tom decided try a local guy that one of the RV stores said might be an option. It sounded expensive, but we had to at least enquire. Tom hauled the axle to him to see what he would say...
"Looks like you only need this one part. No big deal. $165 and I can have it done in an hour."
You have got to be kidding?!?! YES!!!! A freaking Christmas miracle. Sold.
One hour later we were the proud owners of a new and shiney axle. Thank you random metal worker in California. You saved us. Seriously.
