Wandering the World: Grand Canyon National Park
We ended up staying South of Flagstaff and so when we made the trek to the Grand Canyon, it took longer than we had planned. Sadly, we also underrestimated the temp change between the vallery and the mountains! The rim was COLD and we were totally not prepared. We certainly learned. So we got there mid afternoon, had a COLD picnic lunch, walked the South Rim to see the views. Izzy even pet a squirrel!! Only later did we learn that this probably wasn't a good idea since they carried plagues. Oops!
We went into the visitor center to find that they closed at 4pm so we had to get those junior ranger badged done quickly!!! Thankfully, the ranger program was just about to start. We went and listened and completed our badges. We were bummed that our time was short, but we did manage to take a bus ride with the kids!!! Owen especially was thrilled to get to ride the bus and that made it even more exciting. Four is such a fun age.
Needless to say, everyone fell asleep early on the trip home. But they can say... they have seen the grand canyon!
