Wandering the World: Pop! There goes the tire.
When you are heading back on the road, it is sometimes inevitable that you will have something go wrong. Thankfully we were HUGELY blessed this time. While on a very busy Colorado Springs Freeway, we heard a pop and Tom lost control of the camper behind us. He immediately started making his way to the shoulder when the Fire Truck lights behind us popped on.
Not only did these amazing men pull off and keep us safe with the truck, they got out all their equipment and offered to fix it for us!
Now, being the highly prepared camper owners that we are, we had never checked on the spare or made sure we had the tools to change it. Yeah, you would think we would have learned by now.
They were able to jack up the camper with a giant fireman jack, rip out the rubber that had gotten tangled around the axel. They quickly and easily switched out the tire for us. It was truly a gift.
Tom with his injuries, would not have physically been able to handle this job and Zach and I would have struggled. Thankfully our insurance has roadside assistance, but it would have been a several hour ordeal with very cranky children. Instead, 30 mins and we were back on the road! A huge thank you to the wonderful men who served us that day!
