Review: Ponderosa Thousand Trails

Review: Ponderosa Thousand Trails

We find it helpful to read others reviews of RV parks and State Parks and so we do them as well! We do not get anything for them, it is simply our thoughts and experiences as a big family with lots of young children!

Name: Ponderosa RV Resort

Location: Lotus, California

Nearby: South Fork of the American River, Sacramento

Cost: TT Members so $0

Accessibility:  Pretty easy to get to!  Traffic was bad, but it was the 4th of July weekend.

Roads:  In the park, they are very hilly and can be narrow.  But it was easy to navigate and even on a busy weekend, it wasn't too bad.  The entrance is narrow and so when there was a fire truck in the parking lot, we were stuck waiting for quite awhile.  I don't think that is the norm though.

Sites: Small side, but we got there late on a Friday on a holiday weekend and it was slim pickings.  Mostly dusty dirt ground but the river was RIGHT there and if you had a river site, it would be awesome.

Bathrooms:  Not great.  Pretty dirty and the water pressure was awful.  But again... holiday weekend.

Staff: Super nice.  I did have issues with how they were managing the parking, but they worked with us and we got it figured out.  The activities were great (band and karaoke and clown playing games at the pool).

Cell/Internet: ATT was non-existent.  Verizon was fine at 4G with 2-3 bars.

Campfire: Yup!  Rings were in the site.

Closest Walmart: Close!  We were actually only 20 minutes from Costco, Sams, Walmart, and tons of other shopping.  They also had a store at the campground.

Kid Friendly: If you have older kids, it is excellent.  The river is great and we enjoyed swimming, tubing, gold mining, playing at the pool, and ping pong at the clubhouse.  Little to nothing for the younger kids (no playground, etc)

Additional Thoughts:  We really enjoyed it!
